Huangshan Was Amazing, But Zhangjiajie Took My Breath Away!

Day 1: Arrival and Settling In

• Arrival: Land in Zhangjiajie and take a 40-minute bus ride to Wulingyuan. It's a scenic drive that sets the tone for your trip.
• Accommodation: I highly recommend staying near the Wulingyuan Signpost Gate. It's super convenient because you can literally walk a few dozen meters to the entrance of the national park the next morning.

Day 2: Exploring Wulingyuan

• Entrance: Enter through the East Gate (Signpost Gate). The ticket costs 227 RMB and is valid for four days, allowing you to come and go as you please.
• Itinerary:
  • Signpost Gate: Start your adventure here.
  • Bailong Elevator: Take this incredible elevator that ascends hundreds of meters in seconds. It's a thrilling experience and a great way to save time and energy.
  • Yuanjiajie: This area is famous for its stunning rock formations and breathtaking views. It's like stepping into a different world.
  • Yangjiajie: Another must-visit spot with unique landscapes and beautiful vistas.
  • Tianzishhan: This area offers panoramic views of the entire Wulingyuan Scenic Area. It's worth the climb!
  • Cable Car Down: After a full day of exploring, take the cable car down the mountain. It's a relaxing way to end your day.
  • Shilipaint Corridor: A scenic path with beautiful rock formations on both sides.
  • Jinbian Stream: A picturesque stream that winds through the forest. It's perfect for a leisurely walk.

Day 3: Wulingyuan to Tianmen Mountain

• Travel: Take a 40-minute bus ride from Wulingyuan to Tianmen Mountain.
• Tianmen Mountain Options:
  • Option A: Take the Tianmen Mountain Cable Car up and the fast cable car down (highly recommended). This route offers the best views and is the most efficient.
  • Option B: Take the fast cable car up and the Tianmen Mountain Cable Car down.
  • Option C: Take the fast cable car up and down (not recommended as it involves retracing your steps).
• Tips for Tianmen Mountain:
  • The cable car drops you off at the junction of the East and West routes. The East route is mostly dense forest with average scenery and lots of steps. The West route is much more scenic and forms a loop, so you won't miss anything. Plus, it ends with the descent of the 999-step Heavenly Staircase to the Tianmen Cave, which is much easier than climbing up.

• Weather: Choose a day with good weather. The views are much more spectacular, and you'll enjoy your trip even more.
• Pace Yourself: There's a lot to see, so take your time and enjoy the scenery. Don't rush through the parks.
• Stay Hydrated: It can get hot and humid, so bring plenty of water and snacks.
